A Minor Update

Do you notice anything different about the site? If the last time you checked was last year, then the answer would probably be no – and that’s a good thing! Pretty much exactly one year ago, my host at the time, Servage, suffered a DDOS attack and lost more or less the whole of my site – all 3 sites I had running at the time, actually. One of them was incredibly personal to me that I kept but nobody visited (I liked it that way – it was a sweet site with a beautiful layout called Summer Sonata, I believe I still own the domain), one was BobbieRecommends, that I gave up in favour of Bobbieness but still kept it up, and of course there was bobbieness.com, this site here.

When Servage lost my site, I was frustrated to say the least. I felt like years of me disappeared. The last time I’d backed up Bobbieness had been March 2015, and Summer Sonata had never been backed up (my bad). Even upon retrieving the majority of Bobbieness, there were still issues on the back end that I couldn’t figure out how to resolve and Servage were altogether not helpful at all. WordPress support advised that they’d need a ___ file from me for them to check the logs, but Servage naturally didn’t have them. Then WordPress noticed that the host I was using was running incredibly old code and full of security holes, and recommended I switched hosting provider asap.

So I started host shopping earlier this year, and with help from an amazing friend/colleague, I switched to Webfaction. Apparently, it’s all backed up for me, my developer friend recommended it, so I’m going to take his word for it that I won’t be losing my site again. Read More

A Beautiful Summer Wedding

Forest Row 1

Towards the very end of my 3-ish week trip back to England I took a day off to attend my friend Cindy’s wedding. We met at a Christian camp in Milton Keynes and became close as we shared stories about life and love, Jesus’ work in our lives and God’s guidance through it all. We would call each other every now and again for updates, and even before she was engaged I promised her that one day when she got married I’d attend her wedding.

The timing of everything worked out perfectly and I felt so thankful that I was able to keep my promise.

Food, Glorious Food

At one point, the tagline for my site was “this is not a food blog, but most of it is about food”. I think at one point, I might give up on pretending it’s not a food blog and just turn it into one. Until then, I will continue to stubbornly insist it’s simply a personal blog because sometimes I buy expensive shoes and write about them.

Still, everyone’s talking about Halloween and here I am posting about food. Really, I haven’t changed, lol! Ah well, I can’t help it if I just so happen to eat a lot and thoroughly enjoy doing it.

“One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.” – Virginia Woolf. I guess I need some other excuse because lately I have dined embarrassingly well.

Back in July, I went back to the UK on a half-business, half-personal trip. The primary purpose was to spend time back at our London HQ office for a week, but I was able to extend my stay, giving me more time to get to know new colleagues but also visit my family and attend a friend’s wedding.

I spent about 2 weeks in London in total, during which time I more or less met up with different friends every day (night). When catching up after work, there is only one rightful place to do it: over dinner. Sorry for the terrible photo quality in some of these; I only had my iPhone 5S and was much more excited about the idea of stuffing food into my stomach than photographing it to perfection #glutton #fat #sorrynotsorry.

Please Pray For Me

Abalone Cove sea

I don’t know how I still end up surprised that time flies, but it truly still surprises me. It’s already been a week since I visited LA and that was indeed a blessed trip.

I have a lot of photos to sort through and share, so I’d like to give them their own rightfully deserved dedicated posts. But this one will be dedicated to reflections.

Where I Live & Something Sweet

Grand Central Station

At one point I’ll do something more fun like a restaurant review, or take some posey photos of myself dressed slightly more presentable and call it a fashion post, but these days I’ve just been going home and vegging out in pyjamas with junk food and Gilmore Girls. Except for Wednesday evenings – that’s reserved for cell group :)

Anyways, today I ended up at the Apple Store in Grand Central Station after work (explanation to come at a later date) and since I am walking everywhere these days, Google Maps told me to walk along the waterfront back home.

That’s when I realised… I actually live in a really pretty area. I took these photos on the way back:
